Imagginary Docs
Getting Started
System Requirements
- Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, or M3)
- macOS 13 or later
- 16GB RAM minimum, 32GB recommended
- 10GB free disk space
Installation
- Download Imagginary from imagginary.com
- Open the DMG file
- Drag Imagginary to your Applications folder
- Open Imagginary
First Launch
The first time you open Imagginary, it will automatically set up everything you need. This includes downloading the AI model (~4.7GB) and the image generation model (~2GB). This is a one-time process and takes 10–20 minutes depending on your internet speed. After the first launch, the app opens in seconds.
Using Imagginary
Writing a Shot Prompt
Type a description of your shot in the prompt bar at the bottom of the screen. Be descriptive — include the subject, setting, mood, lighting, and camera angle.
Press Enter or click Generate to create the panel.
Shot Details
Before generating, you can set:
- Shot Type — establishing, close up, medium, etc.
- Camera Angle — eye level, low angle, high angle, dutch angle, etc.
- Mood — dark, warm, cold, dramatic, etc.
These hints influence the AI prompt for more precise results.
Regenerate
Click Regenerate to re-run the same prompt with a fresh result. Use this if you want a different interpretation of the same shot.
Script Reader
Click Script in the top bar and paste a screenplay excerpt. Imagginary reads every scene, generates panels automatically, and sequences them into a complete storyboard.
Style Vault
Click Change next to the style name to pick a visual aesthetic for your project. Styles like Film Noir Ink, Studio Ghibli Watercolour, and Comic Book Bold apply consistently across every panel in your project.
Animatic Export
Click the Animatic button in the top right to assemble your panels into a playable MP4 with timing. Set the duration per panel using the Duration slider in Shot Details.
Characters
Add characters in the Characters panel on the left. Define their name, appearance, and costume. Imagginary keeps them visually consistent across every panel they appear in.
Troubleshooting
App won't open after installation
Right click Imagginary in Applications → Open → click Open in the dialog. This is a one-time step for apps downloaded outside the Mac App Store.
Generation fails with "Ollama API error"
Ollama may not have started correctly. Quit Imagginary and relaunch. If the issue persists, restart your Mac and try again.
ComfyUI shows a red dot in the titlebar
ComfyUI is still starting up — it can take 30–60 seconds on first launch. Wait a moment and it should turn green automatically.
The first launch download is stuck or failed
Check your internet connection and click Retry. If downloads keep failing, try connecting to a different network. The app needs to download ~7GB on first launch.
How to update
When a new version is available, a banner will appear at the bottom of the app. Visit imagginary.com to download the latest version.
